How Long Do You Boil An Egg?

Egg is one of the most common ingredients in majority of recipes. We all know that eggs are healthy and full of vital nutrients. People should make it a point to have an egg everyday. Eggs can be consumed in various ways. They can be eaten raw, fried or boiled. Boiled eggs are considered to be perfect for a healthy breakfast.

We all believe that boiling eggs is the simplest thing to do. But, is really so simple? For those, who have just started cooking, it is quite confusing to guess how long they should cook eggs.

Eggs can be boiled in various manners. Therefore, the time taken for each method is also different. For instance, hard boiled egg or soft boiled egg. If you want to eat boiled eggs, then you should know the correct procedure.

Put the egg into a saucepan and add some water to the pan. The water level should be such that it completely covers the egg. If boiling more than one egg, then make sure that they are not kept very close to each other. If they are kept close, they might touch each other while boiling and crack. Place the saucepan on the cooking stove and turn the heat to high. Just after few minutes the water will start boiling. Once the water starts boiling, place a lid over the pan. By placing the lid on top, the boiling will happen quickly. When the water and the eggs start boiling to a roll, reduce the flame and allow the eggs to simmer for at least twelve minutes. You may simmer the egg for fifteen minutes if the size is big. Once it is done, take the saucepan out from the flame and immediately immerse the egg in cold water. This will enable you to remove the shell very easily. This is the process to get a hard egg.

To make a soft boiled egg, use the above mentioned procedure and once the water is boiling vigorously, lower the flame and allow the egg to boil for another three minutes. If you like the yolk to be flowing, then just boil for about two minutes.
