Cornish Cuisine

When thinking of Cornwall pasties are one of the things that make this part of England great, everyone likes a pasty so where is from and what's the best filling?

No-one really knows where pasties come from as its such a simple dish it hard to trace, however there are points in time of which pasties have made themselves apparent. There is evidence indicating Henry VIII enjoying a pasty. The Cornish pasty recipe traditionally consists of beef, potato, onion and swede. Another point in time pasties have been found to have been associated with is the mining period of Cornwall. As mad as it may seem some have even found evidence that the pasties where filled half with the traditional mix whilst the other half had sweet in like fruit and jam. The idea for this was that you have a pudding after your lunch I suppose. Pasties can literally have almost any filling from all sorts of meats to, as mentioned earlier, more of a dessert with honey or fruits etc. Make sure when making a pasty you crimp the edges. The crimp is important because it seals in all the flavor when cooking it. Pasties Will always be associated with Cornish history. Around the world you can find Cornish pasties being sold in most bakeries. So moving from pasties we're now having a look at fish.
